This site is near Malibu in an Oak dominated savannah. Both fire and flooding have become more frequent as the forest dwindles away. The rains are infrequent in this region, often coming in only one or two severe rain events each year. The site has a residence nestled into the base of a hill. Some of the goals for the site were to: 1) divert flood waters away from the house and capture it in basins 2) recycle greywater 3) remove fire hazards 4) make a vegetable garden 5) plant trees in strategic locations for privacy and shade and 6) Develop integrated animal forage and nutrient recycling.
